Light 'em Up

One of the burners wouldn't light up. Geez... it's one of those days! When I bought a coffee today they gave me a free banana slice! Yum!

I sold a lot of garlic breads today. Lots of garlic-ish breath. Hehehe!
I had to trim a few more 120gm chicken breasts. They look tiny. They're for the Caesar Salads. A Veal Parmigiana was sent back. Someone didn't know it had gratinated parmesan. D'uhhh!

Light 'em Up

The girls at this Gloria Jeans coffee shop near my workplace freak me out sometimes. Even if there are a dozen or so customers lined up as soon as I walk in they turn their heads to look at me and then they say in a 'Charlie's Angels-like' chorus "Good morning Marvin!". Honest, I'm not exaggerating! Kate tagged along once to see for herself and she was horrified. Hehehe!

It's a bit bizarre, but I appreciate the attention. I feel special... albeit too special sometimes! It's a lot better than being ignored especially if you're in a hurry. This is not like Starbucks at Martin Place where I lounge around for ages. It's either a Latte, Cappuccino or Flat White and then I'm off to work. And of course the girls turn and say "Have a nice day Marvin!". Yeesh! Now and then I get a freebie, like a 2nd coffee or a cookie. Today I got a Banana slice. Yum!

My day was going well until I realized that one of the burners was offline. I tried desperately to switch the pilot light on but it just wouldn't cooperate. You might think that if one is not working then I still have five burners and that should be okay. Well, not quite. It's like closing a lane in a highway during rush hour. It's not funny!

I sold a lot of Garlic Breads today and heaps of Caesar Salads and other stuffs as well. I only sold one Veal Parmigiana... well, not quite. Five minutes after it went out it came back to the kitchen. Apparently the person who ordered it didn't realize that Parmigiana comes with cheese on top. D'uhhh!

It's written on the menu! Plus it's common knowledge anyway. A Veal Parmigiana is among the most recognizable Italian dishes anywhere in the world, even my grandma knows it. Actually a lot of people don't even know it's Italian, but they do know at least that it's got cheese on top.

Anyway I had to make another one without any parmesan. And the one that came back... I had it for dinner so it doesn't go to waste. Mmm... not bad, but not as good if somebody else made it.

Any sort of food taste better if somebody else prepared it, don't you all agree? :)
